There’s just never enough time, especially when you work in UX Research. We will share how we efficiently conduct research by automating mundane tasks such as requests, recruitment, scheduling, and incentive sending. Using an automation tool Make, we have successfully streamlined the busywork of UX, giving us more time for the creative aspects of our roles. Learn that automations aren’t scary or difficult. We have very practical and simple examples that anyone can use to get started.

Baymard's large-scale checkout usability research found that the average checkout contains 11.2 form fields. Yet the same checkout usability testing also reveals that most sites can achieve a 20–60% reduction in the number of form fields displayed by default. In this presentation, Baymard will share three key findings from testing the world's leading checkout flows and show you how it can be optimized to decrease checkout abandonment.

UXers often find themselves in situations where they need to impact decisions and drive change without formal authority. This talk explores the art of influencing without authority for product designers and researchers. The session begins by defining influence and its importance in UX, distinguishing it from authority, and examining its impact on design decisions. [ENG] Is one year of design token struggles really worth it? | Daniel Wodziczka | WaysConf 2024
2025-02-05 10:50:00

The story of long and painful 12 months of introducing design token into one of my project. - Why it took so much time? - Why we after all didn't ship it? - What blockers did we face along the road? - Is it REALLY worth it? I will more or less orbit around below bullet points to construct the final storytelling: 1. Phases description - selected phases of the journey, explanation of the general idea and execution plan 2. Good intentions, bad outcome - what went bad, why we didn't spot that we are doing circles for 12 months 3. Lessons learned - what have i learned during that period of time 4. It is still worth it - conclusion on my 12 months crusade that help me build next design tokens within a 1 month and ship it.

[ENG] The Sword of UX Has Two Edges. Final User Experience And Those Along The Way | Anna Nojek | WaysConf 2024
2025-02-04 10:27:21

UX is often perceived as something related to the final product, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Before the product can serve its purpose to users, it must be created by people. And the experience of each of those people has a great influence on the final outcome. Regularly, we overlook the journey of building — where challenges happen on a daily basis and the pains of those crafting the product are pushed aside. In today's era of cross-functional teams spanning multiple specializations, speaking a unified language is imperative yet demanding. Therefore, it's crucial to keep consistency, transparency, and usability within organizations. By focusing on this aspect, we can strive for more seamless collaboration and drive collective success. But how do we achieve this? In this talk I will dive deeper into the layers of user experience beyond the finished product. Drawing from my experiences in the corporate world, game production, and more, I'll cast some light on navigating through spread-out teams and a landscape filled with diverse tools and ideas. I will tell you about my ways to bring it all together into a great whole — and what can go wrong along the way. With a dedication to improvement, I'm on a mission to bridge gaps and foster collaboration across specialities and perspectives, to create a unified environment supporting the process of creating well-crafted products. In the era of many new designers joining our UX world, I want to show that it has much more to offer, and how we can contribute to its development. I want to show the audience a broader view of UX and why it matters, offering practical tips and insights on how to support the invaluable contributors behind the scenes — the heroes without whom our products would never see the light of day. The other edge of the UX sword.

[ENG] A new way to develop for the web | Andreas Moller | WaysConf 2024
2025-02-04 10:26:24

Text has been the dominant way to develop visual web apps, even though other areas like web design has moved to a visual format. Join Andreas as he explores what software development could look like in a visual environment and how we every team member can contribute to the code base. Imagine a scenario where an engineer doesn't have to recreate a Figma mockup from scratch and a designer who doesn't have to file a Jira ticket to adjust the border radius of a button. Tune into Andreas talk and see what the next generation development platform look like.

[ENG] Designing Moments: How to Shape Users' Choices and Behaviors | Wojtek Dziedzic | WaysConf 2023
2024-02-10 14:17:00

WaysConf 2024 coming soon! Don't miss anything and follow us! A single question often lingers throughout any design process: will it work? Often, the short answer is simply – "No." The long answer? "Noooo!" Dissatisfied, we ponder potential improvements in a search for groundbreaking solutions. We turn to bold overarching schemes, 5-year strategies, time-consuming workshops, sprawling customer journey maps or the obvious almighty cure-all of "Do your research!"... but perhaps the answer is so simple it seems insignificant. At its core, the design of any product can be broken down into individual interactions between it and the user. This decision-based relationship presents a blank canvas filled with small opportunities, where every single moment can be make-or-break for the user. What does that mean in practice? Well, let's just catch up on the WaysConf to explore why, when designing experiences, you should focus on crafting individual moments that captivate users and shape their behaviors! PS. Research and all that strategy stuff are actually quite crucial, too.

Communicating and trust building between the designer and stakeholders is crucial for bringing great value to the digital product. If you have it, impossible becomes possible. I'd like to discuss how to maintain the awesome relationship between designer and stakeholder(s), as well as share the most important rules of thumb on research, formulating hypotheses, interviewing people, and validating your design decisions while building agreements between the two parties along the way.

[ENG] Building for the personalisation spectrum | Phil Hawksworth | WaysConf 2023
2024-02-09 18:04:00

WaysConf 2024 coming soon! Don't miss anything and follow us! Abstract: Simple sites can enjoy simple architectures and hosting strategies. But what happens when we need to offer more complex, dynamic experiences to our users? Or when we need to offer localisation or personalisation? Things can get difficult when we need to build and serve these sites with confidence. Modern rendering models and workflows make this far more approachable than before. And technologies like Edge Functions allow us to enrich our sites with more advanced features for our users. In this talk we’ll learn about popular approaches to rendering our sites, and see how we can choose between them. And we’ll explore a practical example using Edge Functions to deliver personalised experiences to our users without compromising on performance or robustness. Presentation outline: 1. Understanding the challenge • The challenges when building websites with personalisation • The Personalisation Spectrum (Universal, Individual and the stages between) • Traditional and popular approaches • Rendering patterns that aim to help 2. Seeking a solution • Edge-side-rendering and how it complements other rendering • Desirable properties for sites that scale • How to design your site for robust and scalable personalisation 3. Learning by example • Exploring a practical example of delivering localised and personalised content • Reviewing the key takeaways and concepts • Next steps for learning and experimenting
